Applying GST Rate Changes

Updated: 1 day ago

For the attention of Central Store Managers in India

ree

The newly announced GST slab rationalisation reduces tax rates for pharmaceutical products and supplies sold in your hospital's pharmacy. The updated slabs will be effective from September 22nd, 2025.

The current understanding is that new batches purchased after 22nd September, 2025 will have updated stickers with lower MRPs.

Updating Tax Rates

The GST rate for receiving materials and selling items in EasyCare is set in the Central Stores Item Master. The Central Store manager has access to the screen for making these changes.

IMPORTANT: As the rates need to be effective from Monday, September 22, 2025, the tax rate changes will need to be applied in your system by your Central Stores Manager on the September 21st, 2025.

We suggest the following procedure:

  1. Preparation:

    1. Download the Item Master into an Excel Spreadsheet

    2. Add a column to record the revised GST rate, update the spreadsheet.

  2. Update the Item Master:

    1. On 21st night, after OPD hours and when sales are not likely to happen, edit each brand in the Item Master and update the rate to revised slab.

The video below demonstrates these steps:

Quick and Dirty Method

Alternatively, if the time it takes to make the update across all brands is a problem, then there is a quick and dirty way is to alter the 12% slab in Tax Management and set it's tax rate to 5%.

NOTE: This should only be used as a temporary measure. The right way is to update the tax slab on the brand in the Item Master as demonstrated in the video above.
